It sounds like the male has not preformed his job right so the hen lays eggs but not fertile and don't eat your pets they need to live out their lives and die graceful if want eggs get another pair since these 2 are mated for good.

My pair of geese are just about 2 years old. Last year she hatched 1 gosling, but a predator got it (our fault not hers). This year she laid 23 eggs. The first 10 were too early so I took them away as after she started to sit I candled and could see that they were no good. She has been sitting for 35 days now and there is no sign of a gosling and she is getting weak. So, today when she left the nest I went up and candled again, at least 5 were no good and I took them away, and I have a feeling that the others are no good too.

My question is, any advice on why she has not hatched any this year? My partner wants to now get rid of them (as in, eat them) but I say give it another year. Please help.
