You can actually feed cockatiels lovebird food, they're almost identical. Just make sure he's eating loads of fruits and veggies (my birds love apple slices, no peel or core) and has clean water at all times. My birds also love popcorn (no butter or salt, this is important) when it's popped, threaded, and hung in their cage. Lovebird food has a few sunflower seeds in it but remember, they're a treat. Not too many sunflower seeds. And good luck :)
