It's not a wasp, bee or hornet. It's a Robber Fly. These guys are ferocious predators, but not a problem for people. Some of them (like yours) are bee mimics for obvious reasons.

I tried looking it up but I can't match it anywhere. I had it on my hand for a while. It seemed to be on it's last leg. :/
