Looks like some sort of moth, with its legs tucked in together, so it looks like 4.

A lot of insects do that, actually.

What is this bug? I live in Raleigh, NC and this is on my front door only at night. it's about the size of a fingernail, flat, red, and appears to only have 4 legs. Does it bite?
