That is really not something that is done in this day and ages. There are of course still some countries and poor zoos/aquariums that do this, but not enough to really make a dent. Zoos and aquariums use captive breeding for the most part and trade between zoos.

If you are looking for something that makes an impact look at the illegal pet/part trade. It is a billion dollar industry and ranked just behind the illegal drug and gun trade. Many species have been forced close to extinction because of it be it for "pets" or "parts".
