I am using black oil sunflower seed in tube feeders. The tube type seems to discouage to some degree the grackles and other larger birds. Goldfinches and Chickadees seem to love the sunflower seeds but the waste is incredible. They seem to hate the mullet type mix and corn only attracts flocks of Starllings and other undesireables.
