Typically mixed breeds are less likely to suffer from diseases which are caused through inbreeding over the years, and in some cases have a longer life span due to the diverse genetics.
They are typically cheaper to purchase.
Unless you are planning on doing shows with them I feel that mixed breeds are the way to go if you are just looking to have a companion, as long as you put in the effort for training any dog can be a great dog.
