Crows are great family birds. Young adults even stick around to help care for their younger brothers and sisters until they get around to picking a mate.
Wolves are great family animals too. The mother and father share taking care of the pups; and once they are weaned and introduced to the pack, all the adults and adolescents share in their care, though the parents are the primary caretakers.
any animals that live in groups or protect their young fiercely would work. a mama bear and her cubs, a wolf pack (which is actually like a nuclear family with the parents as the leaders, and their kids and their kids' mates under them), lions, etc
Wolves represent family. They live in packs, support each other, have lifelong mates, and even have appointed ranks.
Meerkat colonies are close-knit families.
