Glucose and fructose are the major sugar found in honey. They are simple sugar that can be absorbed by our body. Honey also contains proteins, carbohydrates, hormones, organic acids, and antimicrobial compounds. Honey is a good carbohydrate. It is a rich storehouse of essential vitamins, minerals and trace elements for our human body. Many people will have the wrong perception that since the sugar content in honey is so high; takers will start to get obese. But in fact honey is made up of 65 – 70% of glucose and fructose. These simple sugars are easily assimilated into the bloodstream thus it will not cause obesity easily.
The first answer is correct, but honey is produced from the nectar of flowers which the bees drink as their main source of food. Some of this is regurgitated when the bees return to the hive and is stored, and also used to feed the larvae. Honey is therefore partly digested nectar.
