Take my birds on vacation or no?

Some vets' offices board pet birds.

Find a pet sitter. Don't try to take them with you. Too stressful!!!

Why not stop by the local pet store and put up a want ad for a bird sitter?

Just go to google or yahoo and type in "your city name + bird sitting service" or they "your city/town name + pet sitting service".

I wouldn't take pet birds with me on vacation id I were you. Leave them with a friend and enjoy your vacation hassle free.

Okay, so my family does not travel much but this summer , this month, actually, we are talking about going to gettysburg. and I love that place! but my only problem is that I'm not comfortable with leaving my birds at home. I have two parakeets, both male. I don't feel comfortable going 8 hours away and not being able to care for them. (My neighbors can't do it, I don't trust any of them with animals. ) I guess I could leave extra food and water, but i cover them at night and uncover them in the morning. I can't leave them covered the whole time or leave them uncovered either. I have cats who will try to get to them during the night. So I'm considering bringing them with me. And the car ride is another problem, is there any way i can keep them quiet during the trip? They will drive my parents nuts, and they won't allow noisy birds while driving. This is just so stressful, opinions please? :(
