Should I save this bird?

I definitely would. If you can take on this guy, you could give him the best part of his life.

As far as the plucking, it sound like a bored habit. Try to get him toys (if you do get him) and interact with him daily. Birds love attention. That may get him to lessen but I would talk to a vet and see what they think. I think some anti anxiety powder in his water wouldn't hurt. Speak to your vet on this and ask if it would help.

He might have a medical condition, but if you have enough money and time to visit the vet and take care of him, you sound like a good person to take him. Make sure where you are moving allows birds.

You should buy him for sure. He could be plucking because he is either bored or sad. If you spend a lot of time with him he will probably stop plucking.

I went to a bird store two days ago and met this amazing beautiful bird, but he plucks at his stomach and he has gotten to the point of creating a bleeding wound on his stomach that is the size of a penny.I spent an our with him and he is an amazing friend/companion and I've been looking for a bird for quite some time to be like this with. This bird is a White Cockatoo.

The next day I wanted to see the bird again, and drove over there, he was sadly still there. I spent more hours with him on my shoulder talking to me. I finally asked about him and they said he is just addicted to plucking because he has been plucking for ten years straight. So I now know that this bird is older than ten years and picks himself bloody, but when he was with me he stopped and only paid attention to me.

I really need help deciding if i should go back today (my third day of knowing the bird) and buy him, I'm sure that they will give him to me for a low price because of his condition. But I'm moving soon.

Is it a good idea to take this big Cockatoo? I have had three birds in my life growing up and my family still has theirs, so i have experience with rose breasted cockatoos, parrottlets, and green cheek conures.

Thank you <3
