Seriously Injured Baby Chicken -- PLEASE HELP?

Make sure she's hydrated and keep him away from others. Make sure their are no openings in your coop/run cause a common predator is the owl. They come silently at night and don't each the whole chicken because they can't fly back with extra weight. Wash it well and soak it in salt water to kill the bacteria. Then put on ointment and wrap it with bandages. If it starts turning purple, then you NEED antobiotics from a vet. You can't treat a infection by yourself. You shouldd find a mobile farm vet in your area. They come to your farm and will treat it right at the spot.

I believe you should call a vet, even if you can't go just to get their opinion. Keep an eye on him and make sure he stays hydrated. It sounds like coyotes got to your chickens, it might be worth it build a stronger fence or keep them where you know animals won't be able to steal them away.

Your local farming store or feed store usually Cary a product called cut & heal. It works wonderfully for bites &/or cuts

Okay, this morning I woke up and right away I had a bad feeling... I went and checked on my chickens, who had been outside in a pen because we are working on building a new coop to accommodate 15 chickens and I found two of them dead and one in the yard with his thigh torn up... It looks like a layer of skin was peeled off, presumably by a raccoon. The other two were very torn up... I nearly vomited when I saw them. Then I proceeded to cry. (THIS IS WHAT THEY LOOKED LIKE, IF YOU DON'T LIKE GRAPHIC THINGS LIKE THAT, SKIP THIS PART) One of them was decapitated, but the head was still near the pen... The other was half eaten with only it's lower half left.

But since I really can't do much for the two deceased ones, I can help the alive one.

We bought some antibiotic stuff (betadine, neosporne, gauze) It was bleeding earlier, but he is eating and drinking fine. He can stand up, but he is wobbly.

My dad (who is a farmer) thinks that we should just off him and end his pain, but I disagree. Mainly because he is eating, drinking, and using his leg at least a little bit. He sleeps a lot, but I would too if I went through something like that... I really don't want to have to end his life, he doesn't deserve that... I've also heard that I can dull the pain in his leg by dissolving 5 aspirin in a gallon of water and give it to him throughout the day as long as he isn't bleeding, is this true?

We live in the country, so a vet trip is very out of the way, unfortunately...

Thank you
