Questions about parakeets?

Parakeets are wonderful birds. They can be quite noisy and you can tell by the noises they make if they are happy or mad. I have never had a baby parakeet so I could not give you much advice on that. I do know they are not always happy by themselves. They are lots of fun to watch and canbe very social birds if trained right. Like every animal they need lots of attention. You will need a good sized cage, the best are the long square ones with lots of room to stretch their wings. Always supply fresh water daily and food should not be just seeds. They love all kinds of fruits and veggies. Cuttlebone is a great source of calcium and toys are fun for them also. Good luck

I've found a good deal on a Parakeet kit, and I'm looking to buy a parakeet. I'd like to get answers on what I'd have to do to take care of it, and if it'd be good as a first pet bird. I have a dog, and I have some experience with dogs, and fish, so I'm good with pets I suppose. What will I need? By the way, it will be a baby parakeet.
