Chickens lay 1 egg per day =7 per week so if you are getting 10 its not from 1 hen unless you don't gather the eggs dailySome breeds lay white and others the colors vary You have a hen laying a greenish color eggs and one laying browinish color eggs and a hen laying white eggs this says you have 3 breeds in your tiny flock you have going.
I'm new to owning chickens. Well I'm caring for 3 hens and 1 rooster for a man who can't take them to the new home he moved to. ( i have an extra large old chicken coupe in my backyard not sure what it was used for -as in breeding or just egg production, it has four large sections and about 30 or more chicken cubbies in them- by the previous owner who passed a few years back) (they also roam around my yard whenever they feel like it) the man who owned the four chickens didn't really tell me what type they are. They're brownish goldish. I'm eager to learn more about them and have been educating myself lately. But I have a question about some eggs one of the hens layed(she lays the most eggs about 10 or more a week- one of the hens hardly lays any - and the other lays 3 a week..). Instead of the usual brown and green eggs she lays I noticed two larger white eggs in the bunch this morning. Is this normal? Or are they special from the rest.
