Do the same for a character. Write down their name, personality, where they come from, what they like, what their ambitions are. Do this as many times as you want for as many characters as you want.
Put the two together and see how your character will fit into your story. Asking people to hand you ideas isn't always the best -- you have 0 passion in something someone else has thought up.
If you were a real writer, you should think of your own plot, your own characters, your own everything. You can't just pick it up from somebody else because that's called lack of originality. And it might not come out as good as you expected. You should come up with your own ideas, and that's how you'll produce your best work. I know this was kinda not what you were looking for, but if you want to be a writer, this has to be said.

Lots of people "think about writing a book". The ones who succeed are the ones who sit down and think MORE and HARDER about what they actually want to write.
If you're not capable of doing this, you're not capable of being a writer. Don't waste your time; take up something else instead.
