Yes, he needs to have friends. We all need to have friends. But make sure it is going to be a bird that your parakeet gets along with. You shouldn't get an eagle or a hawk or a bird of prey because they could attack your bird. So, pick carefully. Good luck!

Does my parakeet need a friend? I have 1 parakeet. I was wondering if he needs a friend. I am in 7th grade and am at school from 7:30 am-3:20pm. When I come home from school I don't always have time to let him out of his cage and play with him. If I do get him a friend could he become possessive over his friend and be mean to me? Is it a good idea to get him a friend or not?
