Opinions on becoming a marine biologist or a zoologist?

You gather data in the field and then go into a lab or office to organize and interpret the data and write papers on your findings. There is no field work without office work, and no office work without field work. I suggest that you read a paper in some zoological journal and see if this work might appeal to you.

Both are great, personally I love water, and me personally I love land animals, it depends on you and the route you want to take.

I'm 21 and I am currently an admissions counselor for a small career institute, and it's not a horrible job but I'm just not completely satisfied with it. I have been thinking heavily about going back to school and something I am very interested in is working with animals. Working with them would be my dream job and I'm especially attracted to the sea and marine life. I always have been emotionally drawn to the ocean, so I was considering maybe a career in marine biology? However, I read that a lot of times the jobs aren't stable and they don't make a lot of money, and I'm fine with that because I love the ocean so much. But I also read that they often spend a lot of time in a lab, sitting in front of a computer studying plants and things like that. I want to work in the field.. not at a desk. Someone suggested maybe try zoology? If I went into zoology, could I maybe specialize in marine life? I'm clueless on this and just don't want to make a decision I'll regret later. Can someone shed some light on the subject for me? Maybe someone who has experience in this type of field?
