NO,it was your male bird who killed your babys,,you should of took him out of the cage into another and left the female with the young ones,,until there were bigger,,this happens alot to birds of all kinds when you breed.Its the male that does this,,Next time read up on yahoo.com (breeding Finches ) this web page will help you on the next breeding time....good luck

Hi. My zebra finches have killed 4 of their babies that were able to eat on their own. They had another egg that was covered with cotton and crushed. Are they upset from the death of their babies? Why are they killing the eggs and babies?

Also the babies were juveniles (eating on their own) and they 2 died together 1 day and 2 together another day
