Mollusk Question True or False?

Posted at: 2014-11-15
Mollusks get the calcium carbonate for their cells from CO2 dissolved in the water, therefore adding more CO2 to the water will improve shell production.

True or False and why?

But do they need CO2 that is dissolved in the water in order to make it? If I put an oyster in water with Ca+2 but no dissolved CO2. Could it still makes a shell?

There is no Calcium in CO2, so it cannot be a source of calcium.
