I have one that looks just like yours - it's a male.
You do know you can have it tested by mail? Just google 'bird dna testing' - they will send you your choice of kit - blood or feather collection. Blood you have the vet do when it goes in for a check up. Feather collecting - you just grab 2 or 3 feathers off the breast really quick and drop them in the provided baggie and mail it off. They will email you the results in a week - and later on you get a DNA testing certification with the birds name and band number on it. $22 or something like that. Your vet will be happy you did it - day comes the bird is sick - it can make a difference to the doc if they know if it is a male or female they are dealing with (males don't get egg bound!).
FYI - mine talks. Says, "Hi baby', 'She's got my tail", "Get your tail', 'Thank you'. We have a second greek named Wimbely he will call out to by name. He'll go, 'Hi Wimbley, Hi pretty bird! Come here, come here' and say it over, and over, and over again until she finally comes over.
The only way to know for sure is to get the bird DNA tested. It is not that expensive. You always here breeders and other unexperienced people saying that the easiest and cheapest way is to grap the bird and check to see how far apart the little bones are together.Thats only a 50% chance of being right...or you can wait for Mylo to lay an egg and then call her Myla.I recommend that you get her/him tested at the vets or at a bird store that does DNA testing...Good luck! and I hope You have fun with little Mylo or Myla (only a 50% chance of guessing correctly). .P.S the person talking about the birds cere is obviously confusing green cheek conures with budgerigars.
its not so clear in the picture but notice the cere (part above the beak). If it is blue, then it is a male and if it is pinkish brown, then its a female...btw mylo is such a cute name :D
The breeder told me she was pretty sure that it was a male but he/she is six weeks. I'm hoping he is a male because we named him mylo ahah
