MALE AND FEMALE DISTINGUISHMENT?

Birds are impossible to distinguish between male and female unless it is a species that has a purpose for the distinction, like Mallard ducks for example. The female is Brown so she blends to the environment better while nesting. With pigeons, as with other species he's where the t so sexy loom identical, the only way to tell is through DNA testing. Birds have what is known as a cloaca. In layman's terms, it is called the "everything hole." This is where a bird defecates, urinated, lays eggs, and mates. So, unfortunately, there is no way to look externally and define the sex organs. A veterinarian can perform the blood draw or feather plucking for the DNA test, and send it off to a lab, but most owners don't bother because it is irrelevant to them. Unless you want to keep these pigeons a pets, and I don't recommend it as they are rife with disease, I wouldn't worry about it.

what are some reasons a bird fluffs up.. My bird does tis off and on and don't know why.. He is a 2 month old green cheeked conure

I have 2 pigeons. 1 was caught and the other one was bought. The one bought seems to behave like female but sits on top of the other during mating. So I assume it is male. But it is really afraid of me and other one is not and possess male characteristics like defending is nets. But it is the one which usually feeds the young. Pls help me? I'm confused.
