There was a windstorm that knocked several nests out of a tree, and we managed to save a few intact eggs. I've been incubating them for the past five days. Two haven't changed at all, but one of them started showing what looked like a white crack underneath the shell. That crack started to extend across the shell over the hours and now chips of the shell are just falling off. There's this gray vein-y looking stuff that I have no clue what it is.
So I'm just wondering if this is normal? Is the chick dead and the shell just starting to fall off or is it still potentially alive and just slowly hatching? I honestly can't tell what it is I'm seeing underneath the shell, please help.
