The origin of that meme had nothing to do penguins being socially awkward. It was just a coincidence since most other funny or popular animals were already taken for other memes.
Stop anthropomorphizing animals. Penguins are extremely social animals. If you are "socially awkward" as a penguin...your are DEAD.

We all know that socially awkward penguin memes. I just want to know that, is it real that they're kinda socially awkward in real life? I mean, how do they, as an animal act toward their peers. Are they really like me, acting and saying stupid weird things on social situation or they just act like everyone else?
