So, read though this article and compare it to your own bird. You might just find a few tips that will help you get though this time without any bad side-effects. http://indianringneck.com/bluffing/
All you are doing is teaching your bird to 'hate' your hand.
Believe me, if your bird wants to be with you....... it will come running up to the door when you open it and jump or hop onto your hand.
The internet and your local library are full of books and website on bird training. I read several before buying parrots again. I have five now that all run to me when I come near the cage. There isn't enough room her to write all the tips and tricks I have learned over the years - but - you can learn it online or go buy a book!
This means you bird doesn't want you hand near her, so the nibbling is a warning. If she was scared she would bite hard, so this is not a terrible thing, you just need to build more trust with your bird.
The more handing the better they get, but you can be cunning and get a tight fitting glove, simple. It is natural, as how do they know yiu are not going to harm it.
Many parrots are capable of hurting humans, intentionally or unintentionally. You need to educate yourself about caring for and training your budgie.
My budgie Ventus is about 3-4 months old and a female it seems.
Every time I'm trying to get her on my hand she launches at it with her beak and
Starts nibbling/ lightly biting it as licking a little.
There's no blood or anything but it does hurt a little and I wanna know if its bad behavior before I try to stop it when actually it isn't.
How I pick or get her up is I go under not over her and place my index finger in front of her to go on, usually she won't come on and bite/nibble me and and will try to get away so I kinda have to gently and slowly try to grab her ( like how you hold when clipping wings not actually I hope hurting her since I was told and shown by someone who has budgies how to do it) then I let her out of her cage and then she ll climb up my arm and be on my back.
She also has spayed legs and does have a habit of biting new things.
I love her and she's my first bird so I just want to make sure everything is okay.
