Is a Blue Mussel a Example of an Animal Adaptation?

I need an explanation on why it is an example, if it is.

Well the animal itself is a complex 'package' of adaptations, if you like. Any organism you care to mention has many adaptations to suit the niche it fills.

So you could pull out a few examples of adaptations the blue mussel has and they are themselves examples you require.

- Hard, hinged shell for protection and ability to open for feeding, movement etc.

- Muscular foot that assists in movement, motility being a key asset of a mussel

- Differentiated sex organs (that is, male and female distinct), sexual reproduction being an important adaptation applicable to a wide range of phyla (major organismal groupings)

I need an explanation on why it is an example, if it is.
