First, where in America was this? That would be very useful t know. Second, that knuckle 'bite' sounds potentially nasty to me; I'd get it checked. Third, those red 'circles' May also be a problem - if they are actually circles like a ring, and theyexpand, definitely get checked. Depending where you were, that could potentially be a sign of something like a deer tick/Lyme disease bite. Both those things might also possibly be bacterial. Either way, I'd be less concerned with a spider bite (although maybe the knuckle could be suspicious if you were staying in the center of the US), but that doesn't mean those aren't potentially problems.

This sounds more like a skin condition of sort, rather than any bite, especially that she is the only one with symptoms. There really is no treatment for common spider or bug bites, but ice will help any swelling, and a topical analgesic with menthol will help any itching.

Insect or spider bites usually manifest themselves quickly, so the skin condition is more likely.

I can't help but wonder if she she got a broken vessel which caused bruising and swelling. I would have thought that it just got infected but that wouldn't explain the bruising. I wouldn't think a bug bite would do that but I am no doctor. I hope she heals quickly.

Many "spider bites" are actually mis-diagnosed MRSA infections (methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus) and need to be treated with proper antibiotics.

I was recently in America, me, my mother and my sister.

Just before we left my mother had been bitten by something, she isn't sure what it was, she was sharing a room with my sister and my sister hasn't said anything about herself being bitten, nor was i, my fiancee was also with us all and hasn't been bitten either.

Just before we left to go back home, (Travelling overseas) my mother had noticed she had been bitten, but she noticed only once she got back home, it started off as a small bite of what she has told me.

Recently her hand has swelled and is currently bruising, from what i saw it's a swollen circle around her knuckle that looks like on the inside is a blue and black type of coloring, although i had something similar years ago when i was out in the woods, again not sure what i was bitten from either, mine was similar but i had no bruising.

But i haven't been bit whilst on vacation, unlike my mother she has,

does anyone know what kind of bug or spider that could have bit her and what can help to fix this bite?
