They make great pets but they do need constant attention or they will suffer from depression. You have to buy at least 2 at a time, and don't buy from a pet store! Find a rescue or a breeder, those rats are going to be friendly and healthy! The rats in pet stores are usually very scared of people and they won't be as tame as the ones a breeder would have. They can eat people food, my rats get people food every day (the healthy kind) boiled eggs, tofu, rice, noodles, veggies, fruits, etc. plain rat chow isnt the best for them. You can even train them to do tricks, there are some awesome videos on YouTube.
