If evolution is true, why don't pigs have wings?

Okay, lemmie explain a little evolution, layman style. You've got a bit of a misconception here, and one that's not too hard to come to, especially if you're actually trying to apply your knowledge, as you have been. Evolution is not what you think it is. It starts when a random genetic mutation, usually very, very small, occurs. For example, the giraffe example. The theory states that giraffe's once had tiny necks. But one day, a mutation occurs, and BAM, a little bit of a longer neck. Just a little bit. It's not like, BOOM, wings. This mutation allows the giraffe to reach higher trees, and get more food. So while the other, little neck giraffe's are dying because they can't eat, long neck giraffe survives long enough to have a baby boy. And he passes on his genetic trait of a long neck, so his son has a long neck. Then the son has a baby girl, and BOOM, genetic mutation! She has a little bit of a longer neck! And so forth and so forth. An animal can't simply say, huh, I would do better with wings! Then grow wings, it doesn't work that way. Hope this helped!

They don't need wings. They get around just fine on four hooves. You just haven't grasped the concept of "natural selection" yet.

If evolution is such an absurd idea, why isn't God making pigs fly - just to stick it to the evolutionists?

Its just so sad that they don't teach even basic science in school anymore.

Tell you what - read a little about evolution, then come back and ask again.

Why don't we have tails like monkeys? The world will never know.

Because if they had wings they would dangle from their back allowing predators to catch the pig easier, so it did not had chance to pass its "winged" genes to the offsprings. Now if it wanted to FLY on those wings it would need to have light hollow bones, and less fat. And if it did now without fat it would be susceptible to cold, so had to migrate to warmer climate. Or it had to get giant wings, wich make hard to operate in the forest and shrubbery, and force pigs to look for another food source.

You see, evolution does not goes the way that makes creatures life harder, it tries to make it easier. For pigs its easier to run around forest and eat roots.

For the same reason buffalo don't have wings.

Pigs don't have wings because people love bacon.

Because they enjoy the mud, why would they want to fly? Besides, growing wings would be going backwards in evolution...

I don't want to hear something like "they don't need wings", because that's an insult to birds everywhere. And if you say "they couldn't have wings because they aren't birds" then explain why pterodactyls had wings yet were lizards according to wikipedia.
