Another thing to think about. If you do not have the time (and I mean like 4 hours a day at least) to spend with a lovebird get two hand-tamed babies (if theyre not tame already you will have a heck of a time as they may treat you like an outsider) but that way they won't be lonely and will get the exercise and stimulation they need. They are EXTREMELY active and can be EXTREMELY loud. My brother-in-law hates the constant chirping through the day. Cover the cage at night unless you want a 6am wakeup call.
It would be best to buy from a good breeder, where I'm from there are some good breeders that advertise on kijiji. Make sure you are buying from a breeder though, unless you want to buy someone's unwanted pet.
Birds from a good breeder should already be accustomed to hands, so they wont fear you. Most pet store birds are fearful of hands unless they hand feed birds there, though not a lot of pet stores do that.
It's better to buy directly from a breeder, especially if you can go to their home or business, or meet them at a bird show.
So I want to buy a peach faced lovebird but I don't know if it would be better to get one at a pet store or on kijiji.
I have a lot of friends that had a pet bird and which i would help take good care so i figured i should have one of my own.
If you have something to say go right ahead!
It would help!
thanks:)
