Don't get a duck. Ducks are messy animals that do not belong in apartments. I've had ducks for years. I think that it would be very unhealthy to feed a duck people food. We feed ours duck food, chicken layer feed, or greens. They live outside. If you were to have an adult inside you would have to have some sort of special diaper on it as they cannot be potty trained even if you had a place for it to go. You would have to constantly change it's filthy diaper. Also Most ducks don't like to be held, and scratch you. Females when they are nesting (Whether the eggs under them are fertile or not) or have babies are willing to bite you. A duck would be an awful indoor pet. Ducks need water of course, their main diet should consist of cracked corn, and they can eat just about anything else,( although it should not be their main meal) chips, burgers, pasta, they can even eat chicken. Ducks are social animals and they are more happy if they have a friend, if you are getting a duck i suggest you get two
If you really want a dog and can care for it. Go and get a note for a therapy animal. The complex will have no choice but to allow your dog.
I'm getting an apartment that doesn't allow dogs so I thought, hey you know what's be cool? Getting a duck! So if anyone could give me some information on owning a duck so I can know if this is a good idea I'd appreciate it.
