I need information on Cockatiels?

Alright, for starters, Birds can be high maintenance, but they are very rewarding and affectionate. I can not stress how important it is that you buy from a breeder if have depression, if you buy from a store the odds are the animal will not like you or will die within a month.

Birds are GREAT companions for anyone, I am depressed and I love having them, a cockatiel is a great starter bird, they are intelligent and can learn tricks, and are VERY affectionate. I would suggest a male if you are female because in most cases female birds bond to males better and vice versa.

You need to provide your bird with toys, not usually that expensive, you need to give it AT LEAST 1 playstand or playground. There are ones for $50 and less, and you need to provide it with cuttle bones or other source of calcium. You also need to do research on what type of food for what bird you plan to get, don't give it alot of fatty food. Fresh fruts and veggies are great along with a pellet and seed died.

Make sure you you get a big enough cage for it to have room for playing sleeping and eating. If you want to train your bird do research on it first.

Another bird that would be great for you is a Green Cheek Conure. Make sure you do research outside of yahoo on caring for whatever type of bird you want. If you get a female you need to research its egg laying.

A cockatiel is a great choice, they are easy to train and are inexpensive. You can buy a tiel for $60 - $160 or even go to a bird rescue center, you will need a good cage, a fair amount of toys, and most important a high quality bird seed. Generally cockatiels don't require vet visits, they are easy to car for, it would be best to borrow or buy a book on cockatiel care before you get a bird. Tiels live from 25 to 25 years so it is a long term friendship you will be building.

Even on a bad day, your bird will be happy to see you, but you must make time almost every day to spend with your cockatiel. If your lucky you can teach your bird how be behave outside of his cage, males are more vocal, female may lay eggs and be moody.

I have a pair of 14 year old cockatiel.

Hello. ^U^ I have severe panic disorder, depression, OCD, etc. and am considering getting a therapy animal in which I can care for and interact with while at the same time not having an overwhelming amount of tasks for the animal. I currently have a VERY high-maintenance fish tank and am most likely going to sell it and hopefully make a profit of around $300, and I have 140$ saved for other supplies. I am willing to pay a high amount of money up front and then around $50 every month not including vet visits.

I heard that Cockatiels are a good choice for a beginner. I just need some advice- What is required in terms of care? What do I need to buy for my pet, including monthly supplies? What is a more preferable gender? I need all of the information I can get.

As long as the bird isn't highly likely to acquire illnesses super often, I am fine. I have heard people say very often that if a goldfish stresses me out, a bird/reptile will be agonizing, but my issue was the constant water quality issues, their demanding health requirements, issues with filters not working, etc.

I am a 13 year old female and am homeschooled due to my mental illnesses, but I have an unimaginable affection for animals. Since I am home all of the time, I will have around 2-3 hours AT LEAST per day for playing alone, discounting maybe a day trip every couple of months. Are there any things commonly overlooked when getting a bird? Is there a common issue that owners often face? Thanks!
