I JUST FOUND A COCKATIEL!!!!!!???!!!?

It most likely is somebody's pet. Maybe it went in the cage because it's scared and it's used to a cage being its territory is it feels safe there.

Try to find its owner first. If you can't find them and you're willing to lo e and work with him/her than keep it, but make sure to take it to a vet to make sure it's healthy.

If you dont want to keep him I'd still suggest getting him a checkup at the vet first, then look for someone who's wanting a bird to take him (pet classifieds ads maybe), or give him to a no killing bird friendly animal shelter (as a another person who answered said).

Hope this helps :)

Try and find its owner but since you kept them before if you fail to find the owner why not keep it? It seems like fate that you'd find a bird your familiar with caring for.

If you cannot locate the owner in a few days, find a bird friendly animal shelter.

Maybe you can post lots of found signs, but if the owner doesn't show up, you should give it to your local no kill animals shelter. Since it seems like a pet, if you let it go, it couldn't survive in the wild

its a lost pet try posting ads on local classifieds or else keep it you do know how to take care of two and thats a normal behavior cause it doesn't know you but do try to do your best to find the owner because just cause it escaped doesn't mean the owners were neglecting it maybe it belong to a little child who is really hurt cause he/she lost their birdie

Someone posted lost cockatail a few weeks ago maybe thats the owner. It was on kijiji/pets/lost and found.

hope this helps!

Basically a few minutes a go it heard my dog barking and I saw that a cockatiel was in my yard, I then opened a bird cage and put the cage a couple of feet away from the bird and to my surprise the bird quickly went in. So my guess is this bird lived in a cage before but I was very surprised it went into my cage because don't birds want to be free? Anyways I have the bird now but I don't know if I should just let it out of the cage and let it be free. The bird is not to friendly when I put some bird food in the cage the bird kind of went away from my hand and opened its beak. Also I already know how to take care of cockatiels I used to have two but they learned how to open the cage and flew off together. So basically if I can't find the owner should I let it go? Should I keep it? Why did it so willingly get in the cage?
