How to tell a canaries sex?

see it onn youtube

So I've recently got 2 canaries and I'm hoping to breed them, my parents bred them a few years ago but I was really young and don't remember much of it.

Anyway one of them I'm pretty sure is a male because the people at the pet shop were really knowledgeable and I trust them to know but the other which is meant to be a female...Well I'm not too sure, there's no reason why I'm not sure but we had to take a guess because the woman at this other pet shop knew nothing about them.

Anyway, I know that if you blow in between their legs you can tell but that would involve catching them and they're in an Avery and with no net that would be a problem :/ So is there another way to tell from afar? I would appreciate the help :)

Another thing I was told that if you put 2 male canaries they would kill eachother...We used to have lots of canaries a lot of them male and they never attacked each other

Aaaand I was also told they don't sing unless they are alone, I had 2 canaries in my big Avery called Anthony and Caruso who sung all the time...Other than that I'm open to any advice you can offer heh :)
