The same tool used to slide them on in the first place can be used to slide them off, unless it is not a split band, in which case it really cannot safely be removed. It is soooo dangerous to try and take them off; please don't try. One slip and the bird's leg will be broken or injured, and I know you wouldn't want to hurt him. Bands were not meant to be removed, and it's very easy to slip and injure the bird, especially if you aren't used to dealing with bands. Please just leave it alone - it isn't hurting him at all.

You'll have to cut it off very carefully. May want to have someone else hold the bird while you do it.

Sometimes they are flexi and just unwind. My chicken had one on her leg and we removed it by just unwinding it.

I have three canaries and I love them sooo sooo much. Firstly I bought two canaries Tweety yellow and Mango red. I bought them last summer in July 2013. Then I bought Tango white in April and the petshop said that he is 7 months well now he's 8 months also they said he is a male bird. Tango is the only bird that has a ring on his leg I call it a banner anyways.......
