How to introduce chicks to a lone chicken?

Put the chicks inside a dog crate or something that you can see from the outside and put it in the chicken coop. Watch if the chicken attacks or looks scared. Leave it for half an hour and then put the chicks out of the coop. Do this continously until your hen starts ignoring the chicks. Then with supervision, put the chicks in with her.

Place the older hen in a area wher she can see and hear the others alloew the new chicks to have freedom and the older hen is up and away from the new ones then in the morning allow the older hen her freedom and pen the new ones do this for about a week this way all become use to the others and it should be fine but do keep an eye on the older hen since she has been alone for quite some time she wont give in easy to the rest shes the boss of this areas.

Does your chicken have a run or pen? If so, cabe the chicks and place then in the same space as the hen so she cannot peck them but can be used to their prescence over the next week or two, and slowly introduce them. If she still attacks them after this, I'm sorry, but you'll have to wait until they're large and aren't at such risk of atrack before trying to integrate them. Best wishes!

I have a hen who has been alone for a while now. She is 18 months old and since our ducks left about a year ago she has been alone. So today we chose to go and get her some friends. We bought two chicks which have now got their flight feathers but not got their croup. Not sure if they are male or female. As I was about to let the chicks into the pen, one flew out and our hen started to attack it. She has killed rats before so I grabbed her before she does damage, we've now put the hen in a cage which she will keep the chicks out of and the chicks have the run of the pen. What would be the best and quickest way to introduce them as they are sleeping in a rabbit hutch in my room with the rabbits at night and I don't think they will actually sleep so I want to get them living with the hen asap so I can sleep. There is room for three hens in the hutch so not fussed about that, just need to make sure our hen won't kill the babies
