How to get my rooster to stop crowing?

Unfortunately, if you have close neighbors you may just have to accept the fact that you can't keep a rooster and keep the peace at the same time. Roosters are going to crow. You can't stop them, and you can't make them do it more quietly. You may try setting up a special place for him and keep him in the dark until a more reasonable hour of the morning (mine will start at 4 am). But he's still going to crow throughout the day, and if it bothers the neighbors they're going to complain.

You really need to look up your neighborhood's ordinances regarding chickens and noise nuisances. If he only crows at certain hours, or only for certain lengths of time, your neighbors may not be able to do anything about it depending on how the law is written.

If this is a pet, you might try calling around to avian vets in your area and seeing if any of them will do surgery to cut the vocal cords. There ARE some vets who will do this, but not very many and it isn't cheap (and last I heard there was a significant risk of death under anesthesia). But if he is a loved pet it may be an option.

Otherwise, your best bet to avoid fines may be to find another home for your rooster. Roosters are not necessary for hens to lay eggs, so the only reason to keep them (aside from pets) is if you want to breed chickens and/or hatch your own hens' eggs.

Well could always go to the vet and get the vocals removed. He dose his job and he's quiet ;) my grandmas dog had this done. She bought the dog with out knowing the vocals where out but over all it is a option.

Kill it and sell it to KFC or make it sleep late

I just actually just recently sold one of my roosters because he was way too loud. It's a shame too, he was beautiful. The only way I could get him to stop crowing was keeping him constantly focused on something. I'd put crickets from the pet store in his coop so he would run around chasing them and buy one of those seed blocks from the feed store (which didn't always keep his attention for very long). I don't know of any other way to stop a rooster from crowing except giving them something more interesting to do.

We have 5 hens and a rooster, and our neighbors HATE hearing the rooster go off every morning really early :/. we're scared there going to complain and have people come take the rooster. Any ways we can quiet down/stop the roosters crowing? Also we live in Florida and no one we know about has chickens in the neighborhood so it's kinda only us.
