How to encourage bird breeding?

Hey guys I wanted to know if you have any ideas on how to encourage my male and female tiels to breed? Thanks

Before trying to encourage your birds to breed, make sure that they are mature enough to be reproducing healthy young. When you are sure that they are healthy, old enough, and a male and female, it is best that they are separated from other birds in a different cage. To encourage them to actually mate, increase the amount of light per day so they are fooled into thinking they are wild birds. Also make sure that you have attached a breeding house so that the female is given a place that she can lay her eggs. From experience, my birds do not lay eggs unless I attach a breeding house to the cage; although they show interest in each other it is helpful to give a little push sometimes by giving them a nice place to raise their young. Place mirrors and a couple of perches so they have more options and the rest is up to them. Making sure that they are fed properly and given an abundance of calcium is also best. Good luck with everything and I hope you have babies soon!

OK thank both to both of you.

Yes they are 1.6 years old and the actually mated today on their own so I decide to introduce a nest box and they went in to fix it right away and their source of proteins and diet is nonfat tiel food ...fresh greens like broccoli..lettuse..and celery..also scrambled and boiled eggs (plain no salt spices nor anything;)

Good information from the other answer. Both birds should be at least one year old. Its tough to raise and feed young ones when you are still not mature.
