If you want to make sure the egg(s) are still alive take a bright flash light and hold it up to the egg. you may be able to see through the shell and see the embryo. you will also be able to predict how long till it may hatch.
Thanks man this helped.
A couple days ago i was at my father's house to mow the lawn. In the garage where the lawn mower is, there is this nest that was built by a robin last year, where he successfully raised her offspring. Well when i went in the garage, i saw a mother fly from the nest which was news because that was the first time i have seen this Robin since last year. I looked in the nest, and there was one freshly laid egg. I though, "well okay ill just get the lawn mower out and she will come back and lay her other two eggs." and that is what i did. Except i guess she didn't like the loud lawn mower and ditched the egg because every time I check the garage for a tool or something she is not there and i check the nest and there is only one egg. I decided to wait, but now i am certain she ditched and i feel bad. 2 days is awhile but i need to know if i can save it or not....
PS. I know it is illegal to raise a baby bird, if it can still be hatched i will hatch it then turn it in to our local environmental center.
