How do I bond with my cockatiel?

You should hand feed him. I did that with my 7 month old cockatiel(just got him a month ago) and it works really well. Then you can teach him to step up by holding millet in your hand like i am in the picture. Have fun with your new bird!:)

I have a male cockatiel. He is very beautiful and I would love him to bond with me. According to his owner, he is 2 and a half years old. I believe he has been with his owner for a long time and I am guessing that my cockatiel, Charles, is very unfamiliar with other people. I just got him today and I would like to bond with him in a very short time so I can have fun with him for the rest of his years :)!

I have tried to read a book, meanwhile putting my hand against the cage to get used to my voice and hand. Am I doing great progress?

On topic, How could I bond with my cockatiel more? He tries to bite me and move around the cage and perch when I try to get near him, in or outside of the cage. I put my hand near him, outside the cage, and he moves to the side to get away.
