Help! Found abandoned duckling on street?

There is a lot of information available on how to care for a baby duckling. http://www.howtodothings.com/pets-and-an... If you haven't picked up some little chick or baby ducking starter food yet, I've read you can very finely dice up fruits and vegetables. You should stay away from the rice and bread. A friend had a pet duck that he paper trained. It slept in a crib. In the morning it would wake the kids up for school. It lived a very long happy life as a member of their family.

His/her mom could have got hit by a car or shot down by a hunter. You should take it home. It's easy to take care of it, depending on your climate and the age of the duckling, you need to make a brooder. You can buy it online or make one yourself. Get a huge box and put straw down as bedding. Then get a heat lamp and put it over to shine in the box. It will keep him warm. Go to your local tractor supply and they sell duck and chick feed in the same bag. If you don't have that store, you can just feed him a lot of vegetables and boiled egg peices.(good protein) You don't need a huge pond but you can give it a tiny tub to swim in.

But if you can't keep up with all these, then yes you should call the rehabilitator.

I don't know when this question was asked. Would like to know an update.

I dint know what to feed a duck. But ORGANIC Apple cider vinegar ( with the mother) Bragg's is one brand and it will say ' with the Mother ' on bottle. Mix with water and keep giving in syringe. Keep that duck WARM!

For food you can crush and wet some cat food and feed it on a spoon, it should eat that. I've found a gosling and that's what we ended up feeding it.

If you have hay or shreds of newspaper that makes good bedding for the night because they can nest in it. Try not to socialize with it too much because they can imprint. I wouldn't advise letting it swim in any bucket in its box home because it's down feathers won't dry easily and it can become to cold. Keep it in a warm area and if you have a storage tote those work for over night housing.

In the morning, yes, call wildlife center.

I live near a bayou and there is a walkway that leads to a park. There are plenty of duck families that live there. I was on my way home from my walk when I saw a tiny duckling in the middle of the street-pretty far away from the bayou. It was quacking hysterically (probably calling its mother). I didn't want to leave it on the street so I put it in a box with some blankets. It drank some water from an oral syringe and it is shaking.

I don't know what to do. Its already 10pm here and so I cannot call the local wildlife center.

I think I will leave it in my house tonight but for tomorrow:

Should I call the wildlife center?

or

Should I just bring it back to the bayou to find its mother??

What should I feed it? I tried giving it rice.. and a tiny piece of bread soaked it water but it wont eat anything. It's sitting down but trembling. What should I do???

BY THE WAY it looks like that one..
