there is this quail that has a seemingly injured/disfigured foot. it cannot walk at all because it loses its balance. i do not know how long it has been with this but i know it is not recent. i'm almost positive that its because of other quails picking on it. it has been removed from that cage.
while one foot looks perfectly fine, flexible, and flat on flat surfaces, the other LOOKS limp. it is able to use both legs but one of its feet just looks stiff in an almost clenched form. when i assist it to walk, the weird foot looks like its walking in some high heels while the other is perfectly touching the ground.
the injured foot also looks like it has a bruised ankle, maybe even slightly twisted? it is also missing two of its claws/toenails and they look like stubs. it is eating fine and drinking fine. this concerns me because all day it lies on its side. it can only travel by squirming and pushing itself around the cage.
WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP THIS QUAIL? i was thinking about attaching a flat piece of cardboard to the bottom of its foot to straighten in out, but i'm not sure if this is a good idea. what should i do?
