Put it back in the bushes. Young birds often leave the nest early and the parents will still take care of it until it can fly and learn to take care of itself. It is not abandoned. It's illegal to take in wild life.
I think you should look online for a local animal service and call them to see if they can take him, and they'll take care of the rest. He might not be cawing because he's dazed, because if not he should be chirping. But other than that, I think an animal rescue service should be able to assist you.
rspca..but dunno if they do wild animals??
I found a baby Starling under my car this morning. I moved him into my back garden to see if his parents would find him or he would fly off (he looks big enough to fly)
I came back a while later and he was still there, he had barely moved. So I scooped him up carefully and inspected him.
His wings seem fine, he has half a baby coat and half adult feathers so I believe he is an adolescent. He isn't cawing so I don't think he can sing just yet.
I put him in a box with some mushy dog food and a tray of water. I lined the box with a towel and placed one over the top. He fell asleep in the dark for some time.
When he woke up he seems okay. He is a bit ruffled and his head is angled to one side slightly at all times.
I don't really know what to do with him. Should I keep him until he is better and try to release him? Or is he too young to live without his parents.
I don't know how to look after birds but if you could give me some answer I would be really greatful.
Thanks so much!
