Fathers in the Animal Kingdom?

generally, yes. a male can impregnate many females in a short amount of time, so he does in an effort to pass on his genes. some males do stay (like wolves, their packs are basically a big family with the parents, offspring and the offspring's mates) so it depends on the animal

Yes, that is how it is meant in nature, because the animal kids grow up in a short time, but it is different with humans, a human child takes long to mature into adulthood, it takes long time effort of both parents to raise them.

You may find this hard to believe, but the male sea horse is the one who gives birth.

Whenever I see those animal/nature shows/documentaries, the father is hardly ever mentioned. It's always the mother and her baby, and the father isn't mentioned at all. So, I'm wondering why? Do males just mate with the females and move on?
