I've seen this behavior in the multitudes of orb weavers around my house. It does seem to be a daily occurrence and also if the web happens to get damaged. Talk about OCD! :)

My little pet would come out at dusk and make one of those fancy webs, then consume her web before hiding out for the day.

She was quite persistent at webbing next to the porch, Take a look tomorrow evening in the same place.
