A good many can bite, but spiders are not the biters people think. Spiders are not bloodsuckers and just run around biting people.
Some spiders will bite if trapped or smacked against the skin, or otherwise provoked. A mama spider guarding young or eggs may bite to protect her young.
Most spiders are reluctant to bite, but if they mistake a finger for a bug they may try to bite.
I have handled thousands of spiders over 50 years, and only bitten 6 times. Trapping spiders under clothing, or my bad for trapping them between fingers or provoking them.
Except two widow bites, the rest were hardly more than just another bug bite.
Some do, and some don't. It all depends on the type of spider.
