They do share similarities as feliform or cat-like mammals. Living feliform mammals include the mongoose, civets, cats, and hyenas. Some saber toothed cats, however, are not classified in the same family as house cats. In feliform mammals, the auditory bullae (bony capsules enclosing the middle and inner ear) are double-chambered, but it is a single chamber in the dog-like mammals, such as dogs, wolves, seals, sea lions, otters, weasels, skunks, raccoons and bears.
