Do birds empathize?

with other birds or animals?

I would bet heavily on it. Some birds are vastly better at toolmaking and solving complex mechanical puzzles than chimpanzees, indicating their intelligence is comparable to if not superior to chimps, and chimps have documented demonstrating empathy countless times. Since birds are gregarious and social by nature as are chimps, it would be presumptuous to think birds don't experience empathy.

According to this, they do seem to have empathy:

I don't know about songbirds or fowl, but corvids, raptors and parrots certainly do. They are creatures of higher intelligence, and with that higher intelligence, comes a basic ability to empathize.

Only their babies before they are weaned.
