I am getting a lovebird pretty soon and i am wondering if siblings could mate?

they can physically but inbreeding can cause genetic defects after awhile. genetic diversity is usually better but some people breed for particular traits.

How do you know they are siblings? They could mate but I just dont understand. I wouldnt want them too because of my beliefs blood should never mix, Even in animals that do this all the time. Pardon my ignorance

Would you **** your sibling? Animals don't care if they are related but genetic issues caused by inbreeding is a high possibility.

Having a male and female lovebird doesn't guarantee breeding, they need to be a "true" pair and being the right sex doesn't guarantee this.

Either way, you should try and choose unrelated lovebirds.
