If the birds are out of their cage do not turn any fan on. By parakeet i assume you mean budgie's. They come from Ozz and in fact all ( or at least most ) parrots come from the tropics anyway.

Parakeets are native to the hot hot hot area of Australia. They're fine. Just make sure they have a big, shallow bird bath.

I have parakeets and leave them in my home, but I dont have air conditioning. The weather has been really hot lately. I cant leave them outside because I live in an apartment. I provide food and water and let them out of their cage to play a couple of times a day. Do I need to turn on the fan for them?
