I read it just the other day when I found a baby bird that my local wildlife rescue center wouldn't take because it was not native to this area. I still have it and am planning on releasing him as soon as he is old enough... :) In the mean time, try to handle yours as little as possible (except to feed it) to avoid making it tame - which will make it MUCH more difficult for it to survive on his/her/it's own. I dont think there is a law against keeping starlings as pets. Once its fledged though you would probably be better letting it go. A wild animal should not be kept as a pet. If your neighbours cats get a lot of birds suggest they put bells on their collars to alert the birds.

My neighbours cats have caught both adult starlings and the remaining chick was very poorly i have been hand feeding it for a few days now and its doing well after being hand reared it will not basic survival skill as i cannot teach it the things its mother could have can they legally be kept in the uk plz help i want honest advice for the birds welfare
